The challenge
Northwind's monolith collapsed during flash sales. Every Black Friday meant emergency heroics, frozen carts and lost revenue. The engineering team couldn't deploy safely or scale independently.
How we fixed it
We decomposed the monolith into domain-based microservices, built an event-driven backbone with Kafka, deployed to EKS with autoscaling, and added chaos engineering to validate resilience before the peak season.
